Bruno and Hinds gave dazzling performances

Sunday November 30th was dubbed the game of the season in so far as spectators and players alike had to hold their breath as they watched an exciting competitive game between new comers Seven Stars and the Police in the 5th game of the season.

After winning the toss the Astrom sponsored Seven Stars Club sent the Officers to take first strike opener and Captain Kavin Mars and number 3 batsman Garvin Bruno made good of their opportunity as the dynamic duo took their team through a thrilling moment as they made fun off the bowling and poor fielding effort of the seven stars. Mars was later sent back to the pavilion by a run out after hitting 13 fours and 1 six putting 61 to his name.

Bruno found it real easy as he slammed almost every ball delivered to him sending 16 into the boundary for 4. His batting skills did not go unnoticed, as the Seven Stars bowling just could not keep him down. After an exhilarating performance, Bruno was stumped, and returned to the pavilion after scoring a superb 101 runs.

Other contributors were Sabuton John with 27, Calvin Chase 16 and Desbourne Young and Hayden spring on 10 and 14 respectively as the not out batsmen. At the end of the allotted 30 overs - the Police left a target of 257 runs for seven stars. Annil Nuwan was the credited for 2 wickets for 55 runs off 5 overs for the seven stars.

In what seemed to be an unreachable task, the opening pair of Nuwan Budanykie and captain Kevin Hinds started well for the Astrom sponsored team before Nuwan was given an LBW marching order for 34 runs with 5 fours in the mix. Kevin Hinds heated up the pavilion as his batting skills played out well sending a strong message to the officers.

8 fours and 4 sixes was an indication that he had no intention of giving up so easily before he was run out for a well played 72 runs. Denish Ranaweera -38 was the other batsman to score high for the seven stars. Bowling for the Police were centurion Garvin Bruno who humbled 3 batsmen for 42 runs off 6 overs and Tony Hutchinson -4 for 39 off 6 overs.
