Email To Friend Print Version | (TCI-GIS): KPMG, one of the world's leading providers of audit, tax and advisory services, has continued to invest in the development of football, here, in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
Owing to the determination and commitment shown by the Turks and Caicos Islands Football Association (TCIFA), the interest in youth football is on the rise. Today, more and more children are participating in TCIFA youth and development programmes, seeing the sudden popularity of the sport almost doubling in size from January 2007.
Once again, KPMG have come forward as a sponsor, this time by providing uniforms for the Association's Under 20 AFC Academy Team - with their generosity being most welcomed and appreciated.
"It is a pleasure for KPMG to sponsor the U-20 boys soccer squad by providing them with a home and away kit for the 08/09 season," said Gary Brough, Managing Director of KPMG and coach of the U-20 squad. "We are committed to continuing to support the admirable work of TCIFA, particularly at youth level; and we are delighted to observe the dramatic recent growth of the sport locally."
Brough went on to make mention that this particular group of young men are very disciplined and well behaved in their training and their entire approach to the sport, adding: "They are deserving of this support and we look forward to seeing several of them represent the country at international level in the future."
It was August 2008 when a team comprising of younger members from the U20 squad traveled to Trinidad and Tobago to make their first attempt at competing in the U17 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers being held there. There, they were pitted in first round matches against teams from St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Cuba, and Dominica - with the match-ups giving the players a chance to showcase their skill and play against the best in the region.
In January 2009, the TCIFA's Youth Academies will begin running twice-yearly seasons: January - May and September to December. In respect of this, the Association wanted to ensure that every child has a full football (soccer) uniform for their league matches and practices, as many children are not able to purchase the requisite kits themselves.
To this end, the Association has been tirelessly seeking sponsors who are prepared to purchase uniforms for a particular age group. All sponsors will be guaranteed that their company name/logo will be printed on the shirts of the sports kits/uniforms and "free" advertising space for a hoarding at the Academy for 2009 - affording them high visibility.
"On behalf of the TCIFA I would like to thank KPMG for your continued support of our association and its development programmes", said Matthew Green, TCIFA's Technical Director. "Your dedication to developing the sport has helped our Association increase its player base as well as ensure that we have disciplined and focused players in our programmes."
The uniforms are in country, and will be worn by the U20 players when they meet for a match-up at the TCIFA Academy Field on Providenciales Saturday, November 8th - at 5pm. Shortly before the 5pm kick-off time, there is to be an official handing over ceremony, where TCIFA's President Christopher Bryan, Gary Brough and Matthew Green will be on hand.
Further, companies wishing to become sponsors for any of the TCIFA Football Leagues are ask to kindly contact Secretary General Mrs Sonia Bien-Amie on (649) 231-1868 or Matthew Green on (649) 232-1860 - for more information. | | | | Reads : 436 |
