| Letter: In response to: Is the TCI Journal fair? |

Dear Sir:
On Thursday February 26, the Turks & Caicos Net News posted a letter purportedly authored by Shaun O. Skippings, which asked, Is the TCI Journal fair?
Let us first begin by openly acknowledging that in fact, there is no person named Shaun O. Skippings. This particular letter, and others like it that have been published under that same name in the past, are clearly authored by a collection of people who are quick to slander and defame others, but are in fact, too cowardly to sign their own names to the accusations they publicly make.
This low-class and spineless tactic of collectively hiding behind a fake name to illuminate personal or private indiscretions of those they choose to target, or to make bogus accusations against people like Shaun Malcolm or Oswald Skippings, is reminiscent of the tactics and attacks perpetrated over the past few years by PNP ministers and their corrupt operatives when these same two gentlemen were attempting to expose PNP corruption and government malfeasance.
And, I find it rather ironic, hypocritical and very disingenuous that at the very instant this collection of people identifying themselves as Shaun O. Skippings is indignantly asking “Is it fair for people to hide behind fake names and launch attacks at everyone in sight without being man or woman enough to identify themselves?”, they are the ones who are actually hiding behind fake names and launching attacks without being man or woman enough to identify themselves.
Again, the real irony here is that those individuals making up the Shaun O. Skippings alter ego and disseminating false accusations are in fact PDM who fear that Shaun Malcolm and Oswald Skippings may be in contention for the leadership of that party. That fear is understandable when one considers that the PDM party has been leaderless for much of the past six years and continues to be so today.
The Shaun O. Skippings alter ego accuses the TCI Journal of having “summoned their expat supporters and have recruited Shaun Malcolm as their spokesperson”.
Please!... That ridiculous comment hardly warrants a response, except to say that anybody who personally knows Shaun Malcolm knows that Shaun Malcolm is a spokesperson for nobody but Shaun Malcolm.
Those Shaun O. Skippings of the PDM who hide their identities are quick to criticize the prospect that anybody would entertain the idea of a third political party. Could it be that those who may be considering the third political party alternative are doing so because of the in-fighting, back-biting and personal attacks that certain PDM members are now perpetrating against other PDM members?
Why did I not hear those same voices criticizing the PDM when the PDM was openly entertaining the idea of a power-sharing arrangement with the PNP leadership who, at that time, were already known to be liars, cheats, rapists, thieves, money launderers and were morally bankrupt in every sense. Where was their collective indignation then?
While I will acknowledge that the TCI Journal has posted many commentaries from both Shaun Malcolm and Oswald Skippings that have been accusatory of others, in each case these men have signed their own names to their accusations, unlike those who now anonymously accuse them of misdeeds.
The Shaun O. Skippings statement “The Journal for the most part writes letters under a number of fake names” is a blatant lie.
The TCI Journal Editors sign their commentaries and attribute their opinions to themselves. The Journal, much like the Turks & Caicos Net News, cannot prevent independent contributors from concealing their identities with initials or pseudonyms (as evidenced by the Shaun O. Skippings submission).
Another accusation that Shaun O. Skippings cannot substantiate is the false statement “they (the TCI Journal) have even written under Shaun Malcolm's name, as he most times does not know what is said in his articles”. This is another feeble attempt to disparage the character of Shaun Malcolm.
It is an intentional misrepresentation of materials facts and an untrue Shaun O. Skippings statement that “up to now no one has revealed themselves as the editor of the Journal”.
The PDM leadership knows exactly who the TCI Journal Editors are. They have spoken to them on a number of occasions in the past. It’s no secret. This is yet another example of an intentionally false accusation.
Rest assured, if PDM members continue to lash-out and attack one another in the same unprofessional fashion demonstrated in the Shaun O. Skippings letter, the PDM party will surely be doomed to extinction.

Mr.Richard Berke,
Firstly, you are a US citizen from California interfering in local politics in the Turks & Caicos Islands. At the moment, California is carrying the biggest deficit in years, and is about to go bankrupt. I think your political interference is needed more in your home state.
It is obvious you have no idea who your friends are, including Oswald Skippings and Shaun Malcolm. If you don't know, you really need to ask someone who will tell you the truth. The truth is not hard to find if you're looking for it.
In this case I don't think you can handle the truth that way you are pretending to be dumb to the facts.
Who are you to come into our country and make threats against our political parties? Please rest assured that if the PDM does defend its leaders, rest assured that I will continue to speak out against the TCI Journal and freedom of speech. The TCI Journal will for sure be doomed and is heading for extinction in a little while.
Mr Richard Berke, we recommend that you finish your little house in Thompson Cove and live happily ever after. |

Mr Richard Berke,
I was in conversation with a group of local Turks Islanders who were disgusted by you and your attacks on both our political parties. We know that you are involved in setting up a new party with Oswald Skippings and Shaun Malcolm but for God’s sake don't involve yourself publically in our politics, if you do there is a price to pay. I do hope you have your status resolved or is it that Skippings made a promise to deliver like he did for Mr Shawn Reed?
My advice is get a life, you have no idea who the naughty men you are dealing with are, go back and read the contents of the last Commission of Inquiry. Find out why no one will give Shaun Malcolm a job. The truth is that his hands are too light. Get my drift? |
